Sheila Regan reports at Southwest Minneapolis Patch that Gigi’s on 36th St at Bryant Ave S in Minneapolis is under new ownership, and will be adding a Jucy Lucy to their menu.
According to Regan, Gigi’s plans to use Thousand Hills beef for their Jucy Lucy.
Tin Cup on Rice St recently reopened under new management and with a new look. They have nine Lucys on their menu and some of them look vicious. The Lucifer, in particular, looks mean as hell. And delicious. A return trip is in order.
If you think you’re up for their Lucy Challenge, invite me along when you give it a shot. I do not want to miss that.
Eat two one-pound Lucifer’s, with two pounds of fries, and a bowl of coleslaw within 30 minutes and it’s Free!
Just opened on July 1st, The Lodge of Robbinsdale offers two Jucy Lucys on its menu: The Smokey Lucy and the Bluchee Lucy. I was recently there and did not try either one, but since it resides next door to my favorite gun range, (incidentally, they share the same owner) I’m sure I’ll be back. So, go out to Robbinsdale, shoot a box of rounds at Bill’s, and then stop in and try one. You may also want to give The Camp Counselor a test drive. That’s not a euphemism, it’s a $12 multi-booze drink served in a fish bowl.
Every Monday night at 8pm you can tune into Bill Ashton’s live internet show, Burgers, Beers and Bomb Shots, hosted at his restaurant, Jersey’s Bar and Grill in Inver Grove Heights. Every week they will make two new Juicy Lucy’s, sample beers and shots, and do some interviews. One of the featured Lucy’s will become that week’s Special.
Bill wrote in to JLR with a description of this week’s burger and a request for a critique:
We feature 2 different Juciy Lucy Burgers every week and will have 104 different flavors in a year. We also feature different beers, drinks and bomb shots and well as interview people on the show.
We are fairly new at the Juicy Lucy Game but at our Restaurant we feature 3 different ones every week. The Classic filled with American Cheese, The Loaded filled with Cheddar Jack and Bacon topped with Seasoned Sour Cream and Chives, and the Juicy of the Week.
We do the show on Monday Nights, 8pm and the winner of the 2 Juicys that we feature is the burger of the week. This week’s burger is stuffed with Mozzarella Cheese and Canadian Bacon topped with Pineapple Salsa.
I’d love for a critique of the show and the burgers.
They’re bound to have something for everyone with 104 different Lucy styles. Go check them out, and then come back and tell us which Lucy you had and what you thought.
Matt left a comment to tell us he has noticed the Mainstreet Bar in Hopkins was missing from our recent additions:
I’ve been seeing all these updates for newly found Jucy Lucys… Why no love for Mainstreet Bar & Grill in Hopkins? They’ve had one for a few years now.
Matt, you didn’t mention if you’ve tried the Mainstreet Lucy. It looks like a pretty standard style. How was it?
Zach Slovin wrote to tell us about the Ugly Mug Minneapolis:
Just found your site and saw on the map you don’t have The Ugly Mug listed as a Lucy location. They have 2 lucys on the menu, one I believe with jalepeno and bacon on the inside as well as extra cheese on top.
More jalapenos! They actually have three Lucys on the menu and they all sound pretty tasty. Ready to devote an entire weekend to Ugly Mug?
Jake Whiting points us to the Jalapeno Juicy Lucy at the Gold Nugget Tavern & Grille in Minnetonka. He has a pretty high opinion of what they’re doing out there:
My wife and I go here fort-nightly, and most recently I had the Jalapeño Juicy Lucy. I would give it a 3 out of 4 thumbs up, with the 4th thumb pointing parallel to the horizon. I’d dock it the maximum thumbs possible for being a tad on the dry side. Proportions, architecture, internal temperature, and flavor were ALL there though.
This restaurant is worth the trek down Excelsior for the meal. It’s good food. And no, I have no affiliation with the restaurant!
Adding jalapenos seems deadly. And delicious. Seems like it’s worth the drive.
Tony Perkins alerts us to a Lucy on the menu at Lord Fletcher’s out in Spring Park:
Got another new place for you… Lord Fletcher’s in Spring Lake. It seems out of place there, but it’s on the menu for $11. I didn’t try it but I hope to in the future.
This Lucy comes with gouda, which is a pretty interesting choice. Tony, did you try it yet?
Bill McGarry from McGarry’s Pub in Maple Plain wants you to try their Irish version of the Juicy Lucy:
McGarry’s Jucy Lucy
8 oz fresh ground lamb burger stuffed with drunken goat cheese topped with red wine portabelle mushrooms.
That sounds pretty amazing and could get me out to Maple Plain. If you give a taste test, come back and share your review.
We learned Lucky’s 13 Pub opened a new location, thanks to a comment left by Tim W.
A second location is about to open on Feb. 1st at the old Bloomington Bennegins location.
The price of the Lulu seems to have gone up to $10.99 since we last posted about Lucky’s. If you’ve been to either location, let us know how you feel about the Lulu.
